Meeting Mya
6:30am
I woke up at 6:30am to get ready to meet Mya downtown. Mya is a teacher here in Deagu, who I got hooked up with from my friend’s mom who lives in Seoul, who I got in contact with through facebook.
This was about to be a pretty big journey for me especially since I don’t have a cell phone or a house phone or know my way around Korea or anything else quite yet.
7:30am
My co-worker Lauren was going to meet me in the morning to show me how to use the bus, but then realized I was going downtown in the morning and she was going at night (so I ended up doing it myself). I walked to the bus stop near my school and on the way a little old man stopped me and asked to help him with a word. He began spelling it on his hand (Barbed wire), so I helped him pronounce it a few times. I got on the bus and paid the bus driver 1000 Wan (I showed him the map of where I was going…I tried to practice some of my Korean with him). He told me to get off the bus about three stops down the way (I guess I could have walked, but this was faster and at least I know how to use the bus now). I started to walk to the meeting place Mya told me to go (my co-worker printed me a map). I asked a Korean lady to help me and once again, even though we had a language barrier, we found the place! “Kamsamnida----Thanks!” I waited for Mya.
8:00am
At 8:00am I met Mya for the first time! She is a super cute chick from Austin, Texas who would be returning back home in about a week. She asked me if I wanted to go shopping with her and of course I said yes! She got directions from her co-workers who helped figure out the bus information. We got on the bus in the wrong direction and luckily we figured out before too many stops went by. We got off, crossed the street and boarded the bus heading in the opposite direction. We made it to Bukbo Bus Station at about 9:15am. We then bought our bus ticket to Osan (3 hour bus ride towards Seoul).
1:00pm
We arrived in Osan about 1:00pm. She went to Osan with her friends about a year ago and wanted to go back once more to buy some purses. Long story short…..we took two hours searching in the wrong area of Osan. Her phone was broken most of the day, so once it finally began working she got a hold of her friend who told us to go to Osan Air Force Base! We took the craziest Cab ride there!
3:00pm
Finally! We found the place she remembered and she bought her purses (this was just like the movies where you had to sneak down some stairs and crawl through a hole in order to buy the good stuff). I’ll be back after I get paid! Taking orders.

4:00pm-?????????????
We had a very long day!!!!! Here’s the short: Met some guys in front of “Blue Opera”…had some beers, went to “Friends”…had some hookah, played pool and beer pong, went to “O-Lounge”….had a good conversation with Mark and had some hookah, went to “Subic Bay” (Filipino Restaurant…ate some food, played cards, had some soju with grape juice, played more cards, sang karaoke, went to “Woodey’s Latin Bar”…got my Latin groove on, went to “Whiskey’s” danced to hip hop, went to Elvis’s and crashed out, woke up at 6:30am, went to the train station, took a train to the bigger train station, took the train 3 hours home, took a cab to Home Plus for groceries, and walked home. I made it back to my place by 2:00pm Sunday!
