6:30am bed time, really? (Thursday, August 26, 2010)

Today at school I gave the student’s their final test for the 3rd term. I was in charge of giving the oral/speaking test, although I was only their teacher for one day. At least I got an idea of where the student’s were at this point with their English. They are very cute kids and I’ll be able to write more about them as I get to know them better.

After class was over at 10pm, I walked back to the motel (takes about 20 minutes), but I wasn't tired. I decided to try to find Sugar Joe’s, the bar I went to with Rebekah and Pushkin last night. I got a little turned around on the way and asked a young Korean girl to help me. At first I tried to speak Korean and she only spoke Korean back, but after a moment she began to speak English. After working our communication out, she helped me find the bar!

I saw a few people from the night before and played darts with Kevin (my teammate, from Washington State---we were great partner’s) and a few other guys. After hanging out there for a while, they decided to go get some food. We ate some pagon (Korean pizza) and drank makoli (rice wine---almost like saki) in a tent type restaurant nearby. There were about 12 of us and it was a lot of fun. The group was mixed with foreigners and Koreans. We continued on to norabang (Korean karaoke). Let me tell you that norabang is such an amazing concept…not sure why the states hasn’t caught on yet! You rent a room for a period of time and just you and your friends get to sing! They give you tambourines and maracas as well. We had a blast even though most of the songs were slurred! As the sun came up, I made it back to my motel room. I think I'm adjusting ok to Korea so far!

Me, Stu (from England I think), Geoff (from New Zealand), Nick (from Cali), Jack (From the States), and Timba (from Zimbabwe---Student at the University)
