Soothing Sauna Saturday

So I haven't been to a sauna in a while because I lost my Sauna partner due to he being preggo, but I got the courage today to go alone. You may think it's silly that I had to get the courage to go alone, but Saunas in Korea are intimidating!  Usually you are the only foreigner there ad all of the women stare heavily, but I really don't care anymore.

I grabbed my pre-packed basket that has all my sauna goodies and went to a new place nearby.  I used to got to a sauna that was much further away because it was close by my friends place, but since she can't go anymore I wanted to try this one out.  It's really normal to see women walking on the street with their sauna baskets here, so I fit right in.

I started walking and when I got to a stop light a little old Korean lady started talking to me.  I am pretty sure she was asking why I wasn't going to the sauna in the other direction that was closer, but I didn't understand her, so I told her I was going to the one "over there." She continued talking to me and all I could do was smile.  I'll go on a hunt for the "one" she was talking about and check it out. If it is closer and a nice sauna I will be in luck!

Saunas are amazing!  You pay like $4 and you can stay as long as you want. I sat down at one of the sit down showers and within 2 minutes a Korean woman was telling me I was in her spot, so I got up and moved. Actually I was happy about it because I went to a stand-up spot instead. For those of you unfamiliar with Korean showers at home, you have to hold the shower head when you take a shower, so this one is nice because you don't have to hold it. Also, the hot water doesn't run out!  Like all the other Koreans in Korea I scrubbed the hell out of my body until it was red. Now this is completely normal!  After you leave your body is super smooth.

After I scrubbed I sat in the super cold pool and then in the sauna for a bit then back to the cold pool. Usually you do this back and forth thing for a bit. When I was finished I blew dried my hair and I was off for home.

It was a great way to start my weekend.  I feel so relaxed and ready to take on the weekend!
